Ben & Jerry’s Support Black Lives Matter Movement: Fans Create New Flavors

Ben & Jerry’s are known for their tasty ice cream flavors, but today they are getting attention for something far greater. The ice cream company weighed in on a very contentions issue in America : Black Lives Matter. On Thursday October 6th, the company tweeted our supportive message for the movement saying,

“Black Lives Matter. Choosing to be silent in the face of such injustice is not an option.”

“Black Lives Matter. They matter because they are children, brothers, sisters, mothers, and fathers. They mater because the injustices they steal from all of us — white people and people of color alike. They steal our very humanity.”

Many businesses choose to remain silent when it comes to politics and controversial issues but founders Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield are no strangers to standing up for what they believe in — political or not. In the past they support democratic nominee Bernie Sanders by naming a limited edition ice cream flavor called Bernie’s Yearning.” They have also released flavors in support of marriage equality.

Ben & Jerry are making the same statement that many in the African American community have been saying for a while now,

“All lives matter. But all lives will not matter until Black lives matter.

This statement went viral! And since, fans have created the #BenAndJerrysNewFlavor hashtag. People from all over the world have come up with some very unique flavors. Check them out below,
